Angkor Wat Experience
This popular tour of Angkor’s many highlights begins with an afternoon visit to Ta Kaeo, one of the lesser known temples within the Angkor complex. The view from atop is incredible, and you can enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the ruins before returning to your hotel. Rise early the following morning for the sunset over Angkor Wat, unquestionably one of the wonders of the ancient world. Erected before 1150 AD, this temple-complex represents one of the most intricate and dramatic religious structures ever built by man. Continue to Angkor Thom and the Temple of Bayon, a tremendous multi-towered temple covered with gargantuan heads depicting the king as a Bodhisattva, or Buddhist deity of compassion. Continue to Preah Khan, before a mid-day rest and lunch back at your hotel. Spend the afternoon at Banteay Srei, considered by many to be the jewel in Angkor’s crown. In the evening, attend a traditional Cambodian dance performance. The following day visit Ta Prohm, many travelers’ favorite temple. Next, visit a nearby arts organization where you will have an opportunity to meet local artisans and participate in a traditional pottery class. Conclude your day with a leisurely picnic lunch at some of the lesser known ruins outside of town, the Rolous Group. You may also choose to tour additional temples if you wish – there are around 100 temples in Angkor complex. Gain a unique perspective on the ruins from a tethered balloon ride or take a quick visit to the Old Market, before transferring to the airport for your departure flight.

Today, you’ll wake up early to pick up the most beautiful, haunting and spiritual moment to visit magnificent Angkor Wat at dawn. This special activity is designed also to help you see “the Temple reflex on the water” when it’s much cooler and less crowded. Angkor Wat, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was constructed by Suryavarman II who reigned Cambodia from 1113 to 1152 and built the five towers in the 12th century and dedicated them to the Hindu God Vishnu. The plan of the pyramidal conception of the temple combined with spaces, alleys and ditches is an ancient masterpiece of architectural design and construction. Return the breakfast for your breakfast. Then, drive further to Beng Mealea Temple and explore the abandoned temple (11th century), strangled by the jungle.

We begin the busy but interesting day by a drive from the hotel to the jungle–covered temple of Ta Prohm which is a wonderful combination of human genius and natural beauty with its giant trees that have grown there for centuries. The temple became more famous after Tomb Raider was filmed there. Afterward, proceed further to visit Banteay Srei that is also one of the must– see sites. This beautiful temple was built in 967 AD by Jayavarman V’s guru, it showcases the most exquisite, deep and complex carvings in all Khmer architecture. Lunch of your choosing and can be near Srah Srang at a local restaurant on the way for your most convenience. After recharging battery, you’ll continue your exploration by a stop at Preah Khan meaning “Holy Sword”. This is one of the largest temple compounds in Angkor and is defended by four concentric walls. The main shrine and its adjoining buildings are richly decorated with Buddhist motifs and scenes from Hindu epics. Drive further through the North Gate of Angkor Thom to see the enigmatic faces of Bayon Temple that’s known as the heart of Angkor Thom. You’ll also see the intricate base reliefs of the Terrace of the Elephants, Angkor Thom is filled with fabulous monuments on the way to get there. You would later reach the South Gate of Angkor Thom– the beautiful and old Gate with its majestic doors and artifacts. End tour at Bakheng hill to enjoy the beautiful sunset.

22 May 2024 ★★★★★Our recent trip to China and Mongolia was a great success. Overall we found Absolute Asia Tours services to be excellent throughout the two weeks we were in Asia. For us, Mongolia was definitely the highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed or local guides and drives and they were unfailingly knowledgeable, helpful and amusing. Their languages skills were excellent and we felt that we recieved real insight into this fascinating country. We were intinially drawn to the idea of this trip by the reports of the world class fihing and we were absolutely not disappointed. The fishing guide was first rate and we caught more fish than we could have hoped for - more than 25 each day - with the added bonus of being the only other people in sight for miles arround. AAT created a private ger camp for us on the Onon River and we enjoyed delicious food prepared by our chef in a beautiful unspoled atmosphere. They alo arranged for us to visit a nomadic family and spend time with them at home and organized a dinner with an anthropologist with expert knowledge of the region. AAT fullfilled their promise to tkae us to us to one of the world's best fishing destinations in comfort and style. We would be happy to travel with AAT again and will definitely recommend them to our friends.

16 May 2024 ★★★★★We've had two "A+" experience with Absolute Asia Tours. It is a pleasure to work with an organization where I feel confident that what you say will happen, happens. This was true with our complicated China itinerary six years ago, and was true with our recent itinerary in Vietnam. your on the ground guides and logistics were top - notch, and I would recommend you to anyone to visit Asia.

17 January 2024 ★★★★★Absolute Asia tours gave us a wonderful tour of Southeast Asia (working with sister-agency My Way Travel based in Vietnam). For our Siem Reap/Angkor Wat journey, our party of two had a private driver and guide named Jak, who was a cheerful and knowledgeable companion, explaining the history, culture, architecture and religious significance of the sites while keeping it always fun. We moved efficiently from site to site, and finished with a boat tour of the fishing village on stilts at Kampong Pluk on the Tonle Sap Lake. During most of our trip we stayed at top-notch locally-owned hotels, but in Siem Reap we were at the excellent local Hyatt hotel. Absolute Asia and My Way Travel our outstanding local providers, less expensive than name-brand group tours, and customized to our interests and schedule.
