1
On arrival in Cochin, you’ll be met by a Myway representative, who will accompany you to your hotel.
-
2
You’ll be driven to the coast for this morning’s cycling tour of the local backwaters, admiring the beautiful countryside and witnessing the daily lives of those who live here. You’ll cycle through small fishing villages and past palm-lined beaches dotted with traditional boats, and see a number of coir producers who create rope and mats from the readily available coconut fibre. Meet some villagers at a riverside community before being driven back to your hotel.
There will be time to freshen up before heading out with your local guide to explore Cochin on foot and by tuk-tuk. Stops will be made to admire the Chinese Fishing Nets, the Dutch Palace, synagogue and St Francis Church, with a suitably timed break for lunch at a local art cafe, for a glimpse of Cochin’s contemporary creative side.
-
3
Head inland towards the Western Ghat mountains and the region of Palakkad. Expect a friendly welcome at your homestay, where the rest of your day will be at leisure.
-
4
Your stay at Kandath Tharavad will be all about understanding life in this sleepy corner of Kerala. Today you can wander into the village for morning tea at the chai stall, try your hand at toddy tapping (collecting sweet sap for palm wine), cycle along countryside roads, or simply enjoy the serenity of your surroundings.
-
Day 5
After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll be driven to Wayanad, in the far north of Kerala. Once you’ve checked in, you’ll have time at leisure to relax and soak up the scenic views.
-
6
Rise early for your shared jeep safari into Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, spotting for wildlife as the park’s inhabitants noisily greet the new day. You’ll be back in time for breakfast, followed by a visit to the massive Edakkal Caves, where you can see intricate Neolithic imagery carved into the cave walls, and hear a few cave legends told by your expert local guide.
-
7
Head coastwards to Ayesha Manzil, where you’ll be warmly welcomed. The rest of your day will be at leisure, so you can relax and settle in.
-
8
Your hostess, Faiza, is a renowned Keralan chef, and today you will join with other guests to learn a few of her culinary secrets. Start by visiting the local market to purchase ingredients, and learn the spice combinations that define authentic Keralan cuisine. Head home to rustle up several dishes with Faiza on hand, before enjoying the fruits of your labour for lunch. A post-lunch doze may be in order – poolside is an ideal spot! Alternatively, your hosts will happily make suggestions for local exploration this afternoon.

As you set off at a leisurely pace along the palm-edged lakes and narrow canals, you’ll pass by lush little islands, small villages and painted temples. Disembark to explore, and see the fishing and coir production techniques that provide the main source of income in these parts. Weigh anchor in the middle of the river for the night, enjoying sunset drinks before dinner is served under the stars.

9 May 2024 ★★★★★Our 2-week trip to Thailand was fantastic! Chiang Mai felt completely magical and Koh Samui was beautiful. We managed to have fun even on the rainy days. Our guides were perfect, very knowledgeable and a lot of fun, with great insights into the local culture. I've been recommending Absolute Asia Tours to all my friends and I can't wait to travel with you guys again! The coordination of everything was very well done.

22 May 2024 ★★★★★Our recent trip to China and Mongolia was a great success. Overall we found Absolute Asia Tours services to be excellent throughout the two weeks we were in Asia. For us, Mongolia was definitely the highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed or local guides and drives and they were unfailingly knowledgeable, helpful and amusing. Their languages skills were excellent and we felt that we recieved real insight into this fascinating country. We were intinially drawn to the idea of this trip by the reports of the world class fihing and we were absolutely not disappointed. The fishing guide was first rate and we caught more fish than we could have hoped for - more than 25 each day - with the added bonus of being the only other people in sight for miles arround. AAT created a private ger camp for us on the Onon River and we enjoyed delicious food prepared by our chef in a beautiful unspoled atmosphere. They alo arranged for us to visit a nomadic family and spend time with them at home and organized a dinner with an anthropologist with expert knowledge of the region. AAT fullfilled their promise to tkae us to us to one of the world's best fishing destinations in comfort and style. We would be happy to travel with AAT again and will definitely recommend them to our friends.

16 May 2024 ★★★★★We've had two "A+" experience with Absolute Asia Tours. It is a pleasure to work with an organization where I feel confident that what you say will happen, happens. This was true with our complicated China itinerary six years ago, and was true with our recent itinerary in Vietnam. your on the ground guides and logistics were top - notch, and I would recommend you to anyone to visit Asia.

17 January 2024 ★★★★★Absolute Asia tours gave us a wonderful tour of Southeast Asia (working with sister-agency My Way Travel based in Vietnam). For our Siem Reap/Angkor Wat journey, our party of two had a private driver and guide named Jak, who was a cheerful and knowledgeable companion, explaining the history, culture, architecture and religious significance of the sites while keeping it always fun. We moved efficiently from site to site, and finished with a boat tour of the fishing village on stilts at Kampong Pluk on the Tonle Sap Lake. During most of our trip we stayed at top-notch locally-owned hotels, but in Siem Reap we were at the excellent local Hyatt hotel. Absolute Asia and My Way Travel our outstanding local providers, less expensive than name-brand group tours, and customized to our interests and schedule.
