Frequently Asked Questions
Generally we use Trek Marlin 6 mountain bikes, this brand of mountain bike provides very tough, reliable, quality frames and all parts are of very high quality. The range of gears also makes tackling the hilly sections much easier.
The reason why we choose Mountain Bikes over road bikes, despite many sections of our tours being on good condition roads, some sections of roads can have potholes, poor top surface, sand and mud. Many of our bike tours also include off road sections which means road bikes are not suitable for our Southern Thailand mountain bike tours.
Our Trek Mountain bikes are changed every few seasons plus are kept well maintained and serviced, all bikes are completely checked before the start of each tour.
- Amazing Bike Tours staff always carries spares in case of emergency.
- If you have a flat tyre that needs some air or an inner tube that needs changing our tour leaders are hands on and will take of this.
- We supply bike helmets with our bikes which must be worn when cycling. If you have you own feel free to bring it.
- Our bikes are equipped with a single cage for holding a water bottle. If you prefer more please bring an extra cage and we will fit it for you.
- If you used to using SPD pedals and would like to do so during our bike tour, please bring your pedals, cleats and cycling shoes and we will fit them for you.
- Each evening our team will give the bikes a clean and check over so every thing is ready before the start of cycling the next day.
If you prefer to bring your own bike please do, after all using a piece of equipment you are familiar with is always more preferable. However if you do bring your own bike it must be thoroughly serviced before joining our bike tour.
As our mountain bike tours include bike rental we will deduct a small fee for those that supply their own bike.
Our road bike tours do not include bike rental. You can bring your own road bike or rent one from us for an additional charge.
If you bring your own bike please accept we can not be held responsible for minor damage or scratching that can occur when loading or unloading the bikes from our support vehicles.
Amazing Bike Tours has a fleet of Trek Emonda ALR5 (2018 model) road bikes in frame sizes 50-62cm.
For our Road Bike Tours many guests chose to bring their own bikes, joining a longer tour it can be nice using a bike you are familiar with and comfortable using. However that does mean you will have very little luggage allowance left for personal items if you travel with your own bike. You can avoid the trouble of travelling with your road bike by renting one of our Trek Emonda ALR5 road bikes.

22 May 2024 ★★★★★Our recent trip to China and Mongolia was a great success. Overall we found Absolute Asia Tours services to be excellent throughout the two weeks we were in Asia. For us, Mongolia was definitely the highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed or local guides and drives and they were unfailingly knowledgeable, helpful and amusing. Their languages skills were excellent and we felt that we recieved real insight into this fascinating country. We were intinially drawn to the idea of this trip by the reports of the world class fihing and we were absolutely not disappointed. The fishing guide was first rate and we caught more fish than we could have hoped for - more than 25 each day - with the added bonus of being the only other people in sight for miles arround. AAT created a private ger camp for us on the Onon River and we enjoyed delicious food prepared by our chef in a beautiful unspoled atmosphere. They alo arranged for us to visit a nomadic family and spend time with them at home and organized a dinner with an anthropologist with expert knowledge of the region. AAT fullfilled their promise to tkae us to us to one of the world's best fishing destinations in comfort and style. We would be happy to travel with AAT again and will definitely recommend them to our friends.

16 May 2024 ★★★★★We've had two "A+" experience with Absolute Asia Tours. It is a pleasure to work with an organization where I feel confident that what you say will happen, happens. This was true with our complicated China itinerary six years ago, and was true with our recent itinerary in Vietnam. your on the ground guides and logistics were top - notch, and I would recommend you to anyone to visit Asia.

17 January 2024 ★★★★★Absolute Asia tours gave us a wonderful tour of Southeast Asia (working with sister-agency My Way Travel based in Vietnam). For our Siem Reap/Angkor Wat journey, our party of two had a private driver and guide named Jak, who was a cheerful and knowledgeable companion, explaining the history, culture, architecture and religious significance of the sites while keeping it always fun. We moved efficiently from site to site, and finished with a boat tour of the fishing village on stilts at Kampong Pluk on the Tonle Sap Lake. During most of our trip we stayed at top-notch locally-owned hotels, but in Siem Reap we were at the excellent local Hyatt hotel. Absolute Asia and My Way Travel our outstanding local providers, less expensive than name-brand group tours, and customized to our interests and schedule.
