Itinerary idea in detail

This tour can be conducted by motorcycle or by car. Please contact us for more details.

  • 1

You will begin your tour in the historic city of Hue, which was the last seat of Imperial power in Vietnam. A representative from ABT Self-guided will meet you at your hotel to give you your equipment and explain the road conditions in Vietnam. They will also show you how to use the provided technology. You will then go on a loop ride to explore Hue, including its old citadel walls, the Perfume River, and beautiful French-style buildings.

  • 2

Once you leave the city, you’ll ride on quiet country roads with only a few cars passing by. The scenery will change from rice fields to sandy dunes, and you’ll see farmers’ homes turning into fishing cottages as you get closer to the ocean. You’ll pedal through some hills along the coastline, enjoying tasty Vietnamese food to keep you going. When you reach the vast Cau Hai Lagoon with a backdrop of mountains and a view of the ocean, you’ll find peaceful surroundings with mainly local Vietnamese families. Be sure to try our recommended local eateries for a satisfying meal on your journey.

  • 3

oday, you’ll start cycling on small hills to get ready for the challenging but beautiful climb up the Hai Van Pass. The road up the mountain offers great views of the ocean and lagoon. Since most traffic uses a tunnel, you’ll enjoy a quiet ride with a gradual slope. The descent on the other side takes you along the coast into Da Nang, a busy city. After passing through some suburban areas, you’ll see Da Nang’s famous bridges and visit the Lady Buddha monument.

Finally, our representative will meet you and take you to Hoi An, an ancient town that has survived floods and wars, maintaining its charm and character.

  • 4

Taking a day to rest will get you ready for the upcoming cycling and give you time to discover the deep history and varied architecture of this old town. You can explore the modern and traditional food options and even head to the nearby beach with a short ride. Follow our app for recommendations or go for a stroll on your own. If you’re eager to cycle more, you can also try our specially planned 28km ride around the city and countryside.

  • 5

Today, you’ll ride from Hoi An to the ancient My Son ruins, where you’ll find Hindu temples in a jungle valley. My Son was once a significant center for the Champa kingdom and is now a UNESCO site.

Your cycling route will take you through picturesque countryside, on quiet back roads that are only accessible by bike. You’ll pass villages and rice fields, meeting friendly locals along the way. After a day full of smiles and history, you’ll return to Hoi An in the evening.

  • 6

Leaving Hoi An, you’ll see local vendors bringing fresh produce to the market from nearby farms. The ride today goes through small fishing villages on a peninsula where fish are farmed and homes line the windy shoreline. Pedal south towards Tam Ky, the capital of Quang Nam Province. After visiting its main sights, head back to the ocean and take a ferry to Tam Hai Island, where your Vietnamese hosts at a lovely resort are waiting for you.

  • 7

Today, you’ll ride on a busy main road, but it’s well-paved for a smooth journey. After passing through industrial areas, you’ll return to quiet coastal roads and villages for a seafood lunch.

Next, you’ll cycle to Quang Ngai, a university town. Along the way, you’ll see the Son My Memorial, which remembers the tragic My Lai Massacre during the Vietnam War.

In Quang Ngai, our team will meet you for a transfer back to Hoi An. If you plan to stay or continue south, we can help with the equipment. If you’re heading to major airports, there are daily flights from Da Nang or Chu Lai airport.

If you need help with accommodation or transport, just let us know. We can take you to a hotel to freshen up before your flight or train journey.

Our recent trip to China and Mongolia was a great success. Overall we found Absolute Asia Tours services to be excellent throughout the two weeks we were in Asia. For us, Mongolia was definitely the highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed or local guides and drives and they were unfailingly knowledgeable, helpful and amusing. Their languages skills were excellent and we felt that we recieved real insight into this fascinating country. We were intinially drawn to the idea of this trip by the reports of the world class fihing and we were absolutely not disappointed. The fishing guide was first rate and we caught more fish than we could have hoped for - more than 25 each day - with the added bonus of being the only other people in sight for miles arround. AAT created a private ger camp for us on the Onon River and we enjoyed delicious food prepared by our chef in a beautiful unspoled atmosphere. They alo arranged for us to visit a nomadic family and spend time with them at home and organized a dinner with an anthropologist with expert knowledge of the region. AAT fullfilled their promise to tkae us to us to one of the world's best fishing destinations in comfort and style. We would be happy to travel with AAT again and will definitely recommend them to our friends.

Absolute Asia tours gave us a wonderful tour of Southeast Asia (working with sister-agency My Way Travel based in Vietnam). For our Siem Reap/Angkor Wat journey, our party of two had a private driver and guide named Jak, who was a cheerful and knowledgeable companion, explaining the history, culture, architecture and religious significance of the sites while keeping it always fun. We moved efficiently from site to site, and finished with a boat tour of the fishing village on stilts at Kampong Pluk on the Tonle Sap Lake. During most of our trip we stayed at top-notch locally-owned hotels, but in Siem Reap we were at the excellent local Hyatt hotel. Absolute Asia and My Way Travel our outstanding local providers, less expensive than name-brand group tours, and customized to our interests and schedule.
