Why Visit Lan Ha Bay & Halong Bay?

Halong Bay is one of those places you’ve probably seen photos of, but it really does look that good in person. The limestone islands are everywhere, and being out on the water is what makes it special. Most people do a cruise, and that’s honestly the best way to see it just cruising around, stopping here and there, nothing too rushed. It’s also a highlight in many Vietnam tours, especially if you’re traveling through the north.

If you’d prefer something a bit quieter, Lan Ha Bay or Bai Tu Long Bay are worth considering. They’re very similar in terms of scenery, just with fewer boats, so it feels a bit more relaxed.

Lan Ha Bay is near Cat Ba Island, which adds a bit more to do a few beaches, some local spots, nothing too busy. Staying overnight on the boat is really worth it. You get to enjoy the bay at a slower pace, especially in the early morning or late afternoon when it’s much calmer.
