Rosewood Phuket occupies its own bay on the island’s west coast – a curve of sand between two headlands, with pavilions and pool villas stepped up the slope behind it. The position is the trick: it is a short drive from Patong and the airport road, and yet nothing of that is visible or audible from the property.

Sunsets face straight down the bay, the reef at either end is good for snorkeling, and the beach club is genuinely on the sand rather than across a road.
