This program offers an ideal introduction to Thailand’s busy capital city, the charming northern region and the famous beaches of Krabi. Begin in Bangkok, where you’ll travel by private longtail boat along the Chao Phraya River and its residential canals. Visit Wat Saket, the Grand Palace, and the magnificent Wat Phra Kaew, a glistening temple that houses the country’s most sacred religious image: the Emerald Buddha. Next, you’ll fly to Chiang Rai, home to tribal minority groups such as the Karen and dense, verdant jungles. Explore this region, called the Golden Triangle, and head out to see the Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park, the ancient ruins at Chiang Saen, embark on a boat ride on the Mae Kok River, and set out via elephant through expansive rice paddies. Continue by road to the northern capital of Chiang Mai, where you will visit the sacred temple atop Doi Suthep and the original home of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Chedi Luang. Continue to Krabi beach for a relaxing three-night stay, where guests can indulge at the spa or take part in activities such as sailing and snorkeling. Conclude with a final night in Bangkok where you will be able to take part in the city’s infamous night life and markets before heading back to your hotel to rest up for your international departure flight.
